Our mission is to unify international vegism by giving the public universally recognized emblems. We hope that vegism will finally have the trust and respect inherent in an emblem.  Changing to a vegetarian diet is THE most effective way that an individual can impact Health, Humanity, and Ecology. These are three distinct groups which are connected by one common thread- a plant based diet. The emblems are not meant to be affiliated with any specific group or organization.  We want to dispel the radical hippie image of the past and promote a more positive educational approach. We praise all efforts and try to influence people by by being good examples and encouraging self-education, not by lecturing or preaching.

Created in 2000 with the help of a freelance artist as something that could be worn all the time, was not offensive, was educational, and would be somewhat cryptic so people would ask about it.  A registered dietitian and vegetarian since 1990 Janet Green currently works at group homes for mentally retarded and developmentally disabled adults (MR DD), nursing homes, and assisted livings with memory care units unit providing nutrition assessments, dining room management, and kitchen sanitation inspections.  She has three children ages 17, 15, and 11.  It all started when a fellow dietetic intern (York Hospital, York, PA 1989) who was vegetarian invited the other interns to her home to watch their favorite TV show "Knots Landing" and try some of her vegetarian foods.
